Indigenous Relations

Bouchier is committed to strengthening the capacity and sustainability of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo through local procurement, employment, community investment and cultural support.

Local Recruitment & Procurement
Bouchier recruits and develops Indigenous employees, shares prosperity with local indigenous communities, and supports the success of Indigenous ventures and entrepreneurship in the larger community.

At Bouchier, we strive to maintain our goal of employing a 45% Aboriginal workforce and place emphasis on ongoing training and succession planning.

Employee Cultural Awareness Training
To assist team members to better understand the local Indigenous culture, dynamics and traditional territories in which we do business, our employees and suppliers take part in Cultural Awareness Training provided by Nisto Consulting Inc.

CCAB & NAABA Membership

Bouchier is a member of Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB), an organization focused on building bridges between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous peoples, businesses and communities through diverse programming, providing tools, training, network building, major business awards and national events. Bouchier extended their CCAB support by becoming an Aboriginal Procurement Champion led by a group of corporations committed to increasing opportunities for Indigenous businesses.

Bouchier is also a full member of Northeastern Alberta Aboriginal Business Association (NAABA), a non-profit organization that consists of a growing interest group of Indigenous Businesses committed to creating an environment that promotes businesses, jobs, and training for all native people in the region.
